History
Catholic Cemeteries of the Diocese of Buffalo partners with St. John Kanty Church to oversee the care and management of St. Adalbert’s two cemeteries, located on Dale Road in Cheektowaga and Broadway in Lancaster. Through this partnership, both cemeteries continue to serve families with the same compassion and dedication that have defined them for generations.
To accommodate the growing needs of the community, the St. John Kanty Garden Mausoleum was completed in 2014, adding 368 crypts and 376 niches for cremated remains. The adjacent St. John Paul II Burial Garden features a bronze statue of St. John Paul II and will ultimately provide space for more than 1,000 graves, offering both monument and flush-marker options. The cemetery office was also renovated that year to better serve visiting families.
Completed in 2018, the St. Teresa of Calcutta Garden Mausoleum is distinguished by its elevated design and peaked roof supported by four pillars, creating a welcoming, chapel-like appearance. A striking mosaic on the west side honors St. Teresa’s lifelong dedication to serving the poor. The mausoleum provides space for 348 casket entombments and 240 niches for cremated remains.
