History
On June 6, 1960, the Diocese of Buffalo purchased 125 acres along Tonawanda Creek Road in the Town of Lockport to serve Catholics in southern Niagara and northern Erie counties. The cemetery was officially consecrated by Bishop Joseph A. Burke in 1962.
The cemetery features beautifully balanced and symmetrical landscaping, highlighted by a tri-sided monument displaying the five Mysteries of the Rosary. A monument honoring St. Anne and Our Lady of Fatima stands on one side of the central green space, balanced by another monument dedicated to the Immaculate Conception and St. Thérèse of Lisieux. Tonawanda Creek borders the rear of the property, adding to the cemetery’s peaceful setting.
Queen of Heaven Cemetery includes an office and chapel complex, a chapel mausoleum, and a lawn crypt garden. Glass-front niches line the Good Shepherd Corridor, which connects the office to Queen of Heaven Chapel and leads to a courtyard featuring the Our Lady of Peace Mausoleum. The St. Augustine Lawn Crypt Garden is located adjacent to the office and chapel area.
In 2017, the cemetery introduced the St. Francis Natural Burial Garden, expanding burial options and helping meet the growing needs of Catholics throughout the region.

Situated in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, one of Western New York’s most scenic and pastoral cemeteries, the St. Francis Natural Burial Garden is the perfect setting to reflect on lessons learned from St. Francis of Assisi - one in particular, that prayer is essential. This peaceful garden is bordered by woods on one side and Tonawanda Creek on the other. The area is beautifully maintained to promote an undisturbed natural setting, including wildflowers and local natural grasses. A natural stone marker placed in front of the section's monument memorializes each person buried within the garden.
